UPDATE: Frankie did not make it. A report has been filed with authorities. An investigation is probably going to occur. More information coming soon. Thank you.
Donations are being used to pay the one night in the vet, and to preserve his body for the investigators. I will update on this as well, soon. Sorry, a lot is going on!
Oh Poor Frankie!
Wednesday, May 17th, Kim Haughn saw her neighbor walking around the street out front her house with a small dog wrapped in a blanket. She realized it was the neighbor's Maltese mix Frankie, which she had noticed was often locked out in the neighbor's yard all day and night, even when cold. In fact, Kim had even gone to the neighbor's previously and told them they needed to let Frankie in at night.
Now Kim thought Frankie had been hit by a car. She went outside to see if she could help, and getting within about five feet of the neighbor and Frankie she was hit by a horrible smell, the smell of decay, death, infection. She asked what is going on, and the neighbor says Frankie has been sick for a long time, is not getting better, and she is going to take him to the vet to have him put to sleep!
Poor Kim just about had a stroke! Frankie is just 2 years old, and looking at him up close she saw clear sign of infection, labored breathing, a goopy green eye.... it was just terrible! Fortunately Kim was able to keep it together enough to remain calm and get the neighbor to agree to surrender the dog and take it to the vet immediately.
Kim also got rescuer Faith Easdale involved. Frankie is now at Day Creek Animal Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga. He was admitted late in the evening, and we do not have details on his prognosis and diagnosis yet. But Kim rescues dogs in San Bernardino, and she says she has never seen a dog this bad off, and alive.
He was severely dehydrated and and appears malnourished, and that is probably the absolute least of it. This guy needs our help everyone! Big time! Can you please help share his story and donate? We will be constantly updating as we get information on our Facebook Page, be sure to like us to follow that.
