Pamela has rescued a number of cats, and she rescued Amethyst and her brother when they were 8 weeks old from the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Both cats have been very healthy, and just great cats overall, until poor Amethyst recently became ill.
Little Amethyst started coughing a lot at about 2 years of age, and was diagnosed with asthma. Then in September of 2016 she kept keeping one eye closed, and a vet exam revealed she had glaucoma in both eyes as well as a dry eye condition.
She then went through a series of treatments, including for ulcers on her eyes and eventually had eye surgery on May 22nd of this year.
Amethyst has a serious of ongoing medical issues requiring medication, including for her asthma, diabetes and eyes... and the expense of regular vet visits to monitor these treatments.
Her mom Pamela's situation:
Her owner Pamela is a senior citizen on a very limited fixed income from SSDI (Social Security Disability). She has spent most of her savings up to now getting Amethyst the testing and surgery she needed, and she just does not have the money available now for all the follow up care this poor kitty needs. Her monthly income is just $1017.00 and there is no way she can save enough for the medications and exams.
Our hope is that some of the medications can be reduced or even eliminated in time, and that the number of vet visits needed will also decrease. Pamela is working hard on finding low cost care, but some of the costs just cannot be avoided.
Let's help Amethyst and support a cat rescuer!
We are raising money to help with Amethyst's medications and vet visits, which right now can be close to $800 a month. All donations are held by us and ONLY PAID TO AMETHYST's VET! Donations are never paid to the owner and are used only for Amethyst! Please help SHARE this story has well by posting the link to this page on your Facebook and other social media! Amethyst and Pamela thank you very mewuch!
